When Life Changes Everything:
Trusting God in Seasons of Uncertainty
Life doesn’t come with a user manual, does it? For years my approach was as if every problem had a logical path and a systematic solution. My career in systems development and analysis reinforced that mindset. For nearly three decades I helped corporate institutions improve efficiency by analyzing business needs and creating or refining information systems. This involved years of writing code and even more years of crafting a wide range of technical and project documentation.
But life has a way of disrupting even the best mapped out system. These days, my writing has taken on a completely new tone and serves a different purpose. Now I write with the intention of inspiring others to uncover resilience, purpose, peace, and joy—not by relying on systems, but by leaning into faith in God. I want to show how that kind of hope can transform even the most difficult of circumstances. Let me share with you why I do this.
Unexpected Turns
Several years ago, my life took some unexpected turns with serious health struggles that ultimately led to the incredible gift of a heart transplant. It was truly a second chance at life, for which I'm deeply grateful, even as it comes with its own share of challenges.
Because a transplant is a treatment and not a cure, I take daily anti-rejection medications which leave me immunosuppressed and vulnerable to illnesses and side effects. Following transplant protocols, I undergo frequent testing and procedures to ensure my body continues to accept this precious gift. Through it all, I live with a unique tension: gratitude and joy entwined with threads of uncertainty, and at times, fear.
Maybe you can relate. Has your life ever been turned upside down? Have you ever felt the weight of overwhelm when the future you imagined suddenly slips from your grasp? Do you ever find yourself frozen by fear—hessitant to move forward—because hiding behind “what ifs” and “I don’t knows” feel safer than stepping into the unknown?
God's Love, Steady and Sure
Here's what I've discovered along the way: even in the hardest places, we can have peace, strength, purpose, and joy. This is not because we can “suck it up” and “do hard things”, but because God's love and faithfulness remain steady and sure.
Scripture has anchored me in this truth: “seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually” (Psalm 105:4) And I've learned firsthand what Paul prayed for in Ephesians 3:18—that we might all grasp “how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”
This love has been my lifeline. It holds me through uncertainty, calms me in fear, and gives me courage to keep moving forward one day at a time.
So, if today you're facing a season of change that feels too heavy to carry, I want you to know that there's hope in trusting God.
I’ll be sharing weekly encouragement—reflections from my own journey and reminders of God’s unwavering love—to help you see that there is beauty to be found even in dark and stormy seasons.
Friend, I'd love for you to continue to walk with me here. Let's trust God together, even when the path feels uncertain. 🙏🏽❤️
